I’ve had super reactive skin since childhood and always held tightly onto the belief that they would go away with age, but to my dismay, they still have not. Over the years, I have tried countless creams and lotions that claim to tame sensitivities, but nothing has seemed to work effectively or consistently. The stigma of skin care products that over-promise but under-perform has completely desensitized me from purchasing any products that sounds gimmicky.
When I was first intro’d to Bioderma’s Sensibio Tolerance+ moisturizer, I was hesitant but at this stage in the game, what did I have to lose? It claimed to neutralize cutaneous hypersensitivity and raises the skin’s tolerance threshold. After being repeatedly let down before and with this bold claim, how could I resist not challenging it?
After undergoing my routine facial peel, my skin is typically left tight, sensitive and dry from the removal of excess oils and bacteria. In this sensitive state, I decided to try out the moisturizer. The light formula glided onto my skin and within seconds it instantly absorbed into the skin without leaving behind any greasy residue. There was no uncomfortable stinging sensation, no irritation and no more tightness. I continue to use it on a daily basis as a moisturizer and have noticed that irritants that would normally cause my skin to react (like exposure to the sun, certain cosmetic products or the use of a makeup cleasning cloth) have begun to subside.
This product is ideal for people who have allergic and/or intolerant skin that is prone to itchiness, redness or other irritations. It has also worked wonders on my sunburns and is especially soothing after facial treatments, peels or even after care for tattoos.
Bioderma’s Sensibio Tolerance+ retails for $26.95 CAD at your local drug store.
