People who are wild about their skin will try anything for the sake of it. I’m one of those skincare nuts and I can’t even tell you how many masks, scrubs and exfoliators I have under my bathroom sink. Some things I tried once and hated but forgot to throw out (or felt guilty after just one use) and others that I’m too scared to try because what if it causes me to break out?! If you’re on instagram, then you’ve definitely seen JoeScrub. This face and body scrub looks like coffee grounds and the pictures are always of women smiling brightly with it all over their face. Looking at those huge smiles, I had to find out what the fuss was and get in on this “secret”, so I sent away for my own little package. Please don’t be dumb like me and assume that one package means one scrub. There’s enough in there for multiple applications. Let’s move onto the 100% natural ingredient list: fair trade organic coffee grinds, organic cacao, Himalayan pink salt, brown sugar, organic coconut oil and so much more. These all promote hydration, blood circulation, tightening and balanced skin. Plus, (my favourite part) the grounds act as an incredible exfoliant. The bottom line: you’re left with glowing skin. Let me get it out on the table: I. Love. This. Scrub. I’ve been testing this out for a few weeks now and can easily say that it’s not a one-use wonder. I apply JoeScrub at least 3 times a week (sometimes more if my skin seems dull) and have yet to experience the usual pitfalls: breakouts, bad reactions, redness, irritation etc. JoeScrub left my skin looking refreshed and oh-so-dewy looking. It takes a mere 5-10 minutes to work it’s magic on the skin, so doing one in the morning is totally an option. If I get one of those moments in the a.m., I’m so happy with how my skin looks sans product that I’ll refrain from covering my skin with foundation or powder. After my first use, I demanded that everyone near me reach out and feel my skin for themselves. I wanted other people’s hands on my face. It’s THAT good. A few words of caution: this scrub can get very messy. It does, after all, contain coffee grounds; they scatter and if left for too long, can stain, so keep that in mind when scrubbing away. Be sure your skin is good and wet before applying the scrub as the grinds need something to stick to. During my second application, my face wasn’t damp enough and I had coffee grinds falling down my shirt – awkward, you’d think but my real concern for you is accidentally snorting a few loose grounds. I may have accidentally put some of the product a bit too near my nostrils and, I may have experienced the excruciating pain of these ingredients in my nose.
JoeScrub is $5.50-16 and is available online
