Sheet masks have become huge staples in many women’s beauty wardrobes and the brands and options available have grown exponentially over the past few years since Korean beauty must-haves started working their way into our skincare aisles, too. Full disclosure: I’m obsessed with face masks (I still stand by the fact that I’ve been multi-masking before it was even a thing) and, more recently, sheet masks, particularly the ones from MaskerAide (I hoard them every time they come through the office), when the new MaskerAide All Eyes On Me Hydrating Eye Gels passed my desk, I knew I had to give these a whirl, too.
As someone who has been working in the beauty industry for a few years now, I will try almost anything that comes around, which often leaves my skin looking and feeling confused and exhausted. I can’t remember the last time I had an actual rotation of go-to products in my routine (something I’m desperately trying to fix as my skin starts to show visible signs of getting older and probably not enough sleep). One thing I’ve always seriously been lacking: attention to my under-eye area.
We all know the skin under our eyes is super-sensitive and it doesn’t take much to get dark circles and fine lines. The latest from MaskerAide promised to “brighten, hydrate and firm” that delicate area in less than half an hour. Did it work? Yeah, it kind of did. When I do occasionally get myself to remember to apply under-eye cream, it’s usually when I’m feeling puffy from lack of sleep or too much wine (oops) and it’s only when I remember to put my eye cream in the fridge because I love that cool feeling. Guess what? These guys already have that feeling packed in, at room temperature and all.
Infused with moisturizing hyaluronic acid, as well as the brand’s proprietary 100 Herb Complex, I popped these gels on hoping for a bit of a refresh after a particularly busy day staring at the computer, and let them sit for 30 minutes, switching sides halfway through. You can use both sides, which is awesome because then you’re not wasting all the serum goodness, but I can anticipate being lazy one day and not bothering to switch. Almost immediately, I felt that cooling sensation that I love.
After I took them off, my skin was visibly brighter and had a more even texture, though it was the brightness that was more apparent. I was careful not to apply any cream onto that area before bed, so that when I woke up this morning I could see if my skin was still reaping the benefits. While the brightness had subsided, my skin still felt nourished and hydrated, so if you’re looking to give yourself a mini under-eye facial before a night out (or when you’re trying to fake eight hours of sleep), I highly recommend this. I’ll certainly be using up the other three packs!
