Confession: I have severely dehydrated skin. No matter how much I think I’m moisturizing my skin, every time I get my makeup done or go for a facial, I’m told that my skin is alarmingly parched. Now, before you jump all over me, it’s not from negligence. I use a number of thirst-quenching beauty products (including this and these) and I know all about the beauty benefits of hyaluronic acid and vitamin E (hello, I edit all the stories here), but I still can’t seem to get my skin back to a normally hydrated state.
Enter The Body Shop.
I’ve been using the brand’s Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil ($30) for a few years now, especially in the winter months. While I hopped on the face oil bandwagon early in the game, it doesn’t seem to be enough for my super-dry complexion, which is exactly why I was thrilled when The Body Shop launched the new Vitamin E Aqua Boost Essence Lotion ($20) to add to my routine.
The lightweight serum-like texture is what first sold me on the product (actually, I’m a huge fan of The Body Shop, so I was already half on board). Often it’s these serum-like products that have the largest effect on your skin, absorbing deep into your complexion to give the skin the nutrients it needs (which is exactly why your serum gets applied before your moisturizer). The biofermented hyaluronic acid is what helps to lock in moisture for 48 hours (yes, a whole two days), boosting your skin’s ability to retain moisture for an extended period of time. The vitamin E-rich wheatgerm oil is what provides that anti-aging goodness as it soothes, repairs and rejuvenates skin to help turn back the clock on your complexion, leaving your skin looking and feeling healthier, more supple and most definitely hydrated.
After cleansing (the line has one of those, too, if you’re looking for the whole package), massage a small amount into your skin and neck before applying your serum and moisturizer. And don’t forget to use before bed (and before you apply that Overnight Serum-in-Oil that I swear by) to give your snooze a boost, too.
