1920s
For the first time, makeup was beginning to become a commonplace item in women’s grooming routines. Starlets like Clara Bow plucked their brows razor thin or shaved them off altogether – thin was in! The style of the day was to draw your brows thin, straight across the eyes and curving downward around the outer portion of the eye, well past where most eyebrows would stop naturally. This dramatic shape gave women an innocent, delicate look, to go along with the petite feminine style of the day.
