There’s nothing quite like finding your first grey hair, especially when said strand is spotted at the tender age of 18, but really it can happen at anytime. Once we got beyond the anger and denial stages, being forced to prematurely accept granny hair meant we were ahead of the grey coverage curve. Here are tried and tested beauty lessons for keeping them under wraps for as long as possible.
Cleanse and condition
Aside from shampooing as little as possible to preserve your colour, reach for cleansing conditioners, especially if you have dry or curly hair to begin with. Grey hair can make things that much worse, since it can lack moisture, so try something like Moroccanoil’s Curl Cleansing Conditioner ($34), which is ideal for keeping coarse hair frizz-free without stripping it. Massage onto scalp in the shower (you’ll notice no lather) then rinse away. The tea tree oil will help to cleanse while jojoba and argan oils condition all in one step.
