Q: When I leave the salon, I have perfect, smooth looking polish but when I do my own mani, I constantly have bubbles on my nails. How can I avoid bubbles when painting nails at home?
Melissa Forrest: To avoid bubbles when painting nails at home, the fix is as simple as putting your bottle of polish down! It’s best to try and avoid shaking your bottle too vigorously. That little metal ball in each and every bottle of polish is there for a reason and it does the work for you! It’s put there to help blend the colour in such a way as to avoid creating excess bubbling when you go to apply your colour to the nails. Another option is to consider applying thin coats to the nail as this will help prevent bubbles. Also, if your layers are too thick layers, if your polish is old (and, in turn, too thick in the bottle) this is often bound to leave unwanted bubbles on your nails. This is particularly true of your final step in any mani, which is a clear top coat. Keep that fresh and you’ll be bubble free for your at-home mani’s.
