One of the best things about summer is getting the chance to enjoy the sun (safely, of course). But not everyone can hold onto their glow or even develop one at all (or maybe they’re just very diligent with their sunscreen application—a practice we applaud!), so for that we need some help from the sunless glow-boosters. The newest one on our radar? The Body Shop Honey Bronze Drops of Sun Holiday Glow Creator ($22).
Yes, that’s a mouthful, but we promise it’s worth it. If you’re searching for something that will offer a long-lasting natural glow that isn’t a bronzer, we’ve found it for you.
Most bronzing products on the market fall into two camps: they either deliver instant colour with shimmer or they build a glow over time. Both can be great under the right circumstances, but sometimes you just want to look like you spent some time by the beach even if you didn’t. And sometimes you want some colour delivery that isn’t orange in places you normally wouldn’t get sun.
I just got back from two weeks away and although you can tell I’ve been on vacation from the neck down, I actually had someone ask me if I tanned with a bag on my head because my complexion was so light compared to the rest of my body (the truth is my face burns so easily, so I’m much more diligent with my sunscreen application than on the rest of my body, which gets a nice golden brown—don’t worry, I practice what I preach and still reapply every hour). So when I returned, I reached for this immediately.
It’s not the easiest to spread on it’s own, but add a couple of drops to your favourite foundation or face cream and this gel-like formula becomes infinitely easier to deal with. Thankfully, even on its own, this little bottle of glow offers a streak-free delivery for a colour payout that is seamless and natural. To test it further, I added some to the back of one hand and side by side, the hand with this gel was noticeably darker in a way that seemed like I’d just spent an extra hour in the sun—not noticeable enough to look off from the hand that didn’t have anything on it, but enough that looked like I spent some time in the sun.
Usually a great scent is something I crave when it comes to beauty products, but so many bronzing and tanning products have awful scents, so I’m happy to report that the clean, fresh scent of this gel is faint enough that you can apply to your face without any issues.
