BD: What does a typical fitness regime look like when working with a celebrity client?
The workout is always planned the week before and is changed weekly to hit new muscle groups, using new props, and new music. It’s fun to switch up any routine to keep it interesting and fun. I focus on shocking the body so it never plateaus and I focus on trigger points in order to shape the muscles we don’t use in everyday life. Of course the music is loud and we have a great time- replicating the emotions of live performances!
BD: What’s your best advice for women who want to get in shape?
Be very specific about your goals. Physical, mental and emotional. Write out exactly what you want to achieve. For example a mental goal: constantly think positively and vision the ideal life and body you want. Then go after it. No matter what age you are, schedule at least one hour of movement a day. If it’s in your schedule you will tend to it.
BD: What celebrity is a good fitness role model?
Madonna. She’s had an age-defying body for many years and works hard for it even when on the road. No matter where you are – there’s always time to squeeze in a quick workout.
BD: What was it like training Madonna on the road – any tips for a quick workout?
Travelling with Madonna on two world tours meant planning was essential. Make sure you have all the right equipment, flooring space and music ahead of time. Everyday was different. We completed two-hour exercise routines for two hours per day, five or six times per week. Working the butt and abs were our favourite exercise. I’ve also traveled to London to train Stella McCartney. The one thing about traveling and training is it allows you to research new moves and new things that clients haven’t done before to shock their body. I use travel time to plan and really focus on problem areas such as arms, hips, thighs, and lower abs.
BD: What foods should everyone have in their fridge?
For a healthy diet and to look your best always have: protein such as eggs, turkey or chicken. I tend to always prepare salads with protein because I’m always on the go. Sparkling water, lemon and avocados are also must-haves for the fridge!
