The holiday season is quite possibly the most wonderful time of the year but it can be a dieter’s worst nightmare. Food and festivities galore! And when the weather dips well below zero, it’s soooo incredibly tempting to stay warm in cozy tights and big sweaters, which are great for comfort but not so great for helping you realize where your waistline is at. How do you navigate through the fun and feasting without packing on the pounds? We’ve got all bases covered with 18 tips to stay on track during the holidays so, please, don’t beat yourself up over a little indulgence here and there! It’s totally okay and hey, ’tis the season, right?
Eat a hearty, well-balanced breakfast. It really is the most important meal of the day. Not only does it get your metabolism going, it will also help to curb your appetite later so you’re less likely to overeat.
Weigh yourself daily. Every morning, step on the scale after brushing your teeth. Make it a daily habit so that you can really stay on top of whether or not you are on track with your goal weight. It will be easier to adjust your habits accordingly if you watch your weight fluctuate daily rather than weekly.
Veg out when you veg out. One of the best parts of the cold season is curling up on the couch in your cozies with a good book or movie. Instead of hot chocolate or wine or junk food, opt instead for hot tea (black—no sugar!) or sparkling water and veggies, nuts, or popcorn (easy on the butter!) to munch on.
