Most women fall in two camps when it comes to cleaning their face: It’s either a ritual that borders on a religious experience, or you really just couldn’t be bothered. I go through phases with this one. As someone who spends her days trying out, reading about and obsessing over beauty products, I do my best to practice what I preach (namely, washing off my makeup every night before bed), but sometimes, when the days are long and the coffee useless, I find myself waking up the following morning with mascara everywhere it shouldn’t be. For those moments, face wipes become my best friend.
A lot of people are against face wipes. They tug at your skin, possibly increasing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and sagging, while also not fully cleaning your face. A lot of them tend to dehydrate your skin as well, and if you’re the kind of person who is wiping and passing out before the cloth even hits your nightstand, your skin might be lacking the moisture it needs to stay fresh and youthful-looking.
But, there are a lot of pros to these portable little cloths. Namely, they’re easy to use and you can bring them everywhere (especially when travelling and you don’t want to have to check your baggage).
It’s not always easy to find something that accomplishes everything, but we finally have when it comes to face wipes. And they’re under-$10, too.
Life Brand 3 in 1 Cleansing Cloths ($9, available at Shoppers Drug Mart) are the wipes I have been searching for my entire life.
Most face wipes I’ve tried throughout the years will take off most of your makeup at best, and depending on how much eye makeup you’ve applied (like whether or not you decided to skip the eyeliner or went with a waterproof mascara instead), you may even need to reach for a second one in order to make sure your face is clean (enough) for bed. These particular cleansing cloths have taken everything (everything!) off, with space on the cloth to spare.
These cloths are moist without being too wet, but fresh enough to make your face feel genuinely clean without feeling dehydrated, which is great for those nights that I definitely skip my nighttime mask step.
Even if you’re not a total makeup-removing wipe convert and still prefer the full cleansing routine before your head hits the pillow, these make an awesome addition to your travel stash or gym bag.
