Solution: Use Quality Tools
When cutting your toenails, opt for a high quality pair of nail clippers. Toenails tend to be thicker than fingernails and cheap ones just won’t cut it (pun intended). Clean cuts are important for avoiding ingrown toenails. Cut straight across and short enough so that the nail doesn’t extend past the tip of your toe. Do NOT cut or file the side of your nails as this encourages ingrowns. File them instead using an emery board (metal files will rip your nails). Use the coarse side of the file to shorten and shape and the fine side for smoothing.
