Spring’s forecast was set at New York Fashion Week this month, with models strutting the latest designs that we can expect to see next year, but it’s not all about the clothes. The catwalk is where beauty trends are born and designers gave us a sneak peek of what we can expect to see in stores (and on our Insta-feeds) come Spring. Nails are by far and away the new handbag. From a subtle, minimal look to a more daring design, nail art is back & bigger than ever. Here’s a round-up of the top five nail trends from NYFW.
People tend to gravitate towards darker colours in Fall and Winter but the best way to transition into Spring is with a touch of colour. Designer Rebecca Minkoff reached out to fans on Instagram to help her pick out her Spring 2016 look. The winning look was the ‘Lucite Sunset’, applied by celebrity manicurist, Michelle Saunders. She created the design using four Essie colours, ‘tarte deco‘, ‘marshmallow‘, ‘beach bum blu‘ and ‘midnight cami‘. A sponge was used to create an ombre-sunset pattern on each finger, using ‘tarte deco’ as the base. To soften the look, ‘spaghetti strap‘ was applied followed by a top coat.
